This beautiful vintage painting signed by the Haitian artist Henry Roger depicts a combite scene in Haiti which is an informal cooperative group of Haitians helping a neighbor get work done to the accompaniment of drumming and singing. It is a form of solidarity where a group of people decide to get together and carry out work in the fields that one person could not do alone.
