Against a vast expanse of deep blue water, two fishermen are illuminated by the glow of an open flame, creating a dramatic interplay of light, reflection, and shadow. Among the Dominican Republic's most renowned painters, Andújar is admired for transforming everyday coastal life into poetic and emotionally resonant imagery. The luminous firelight, reflected across the water's surface, creates a captivating focal point while emphasizing the solitude, resilience, and timeless traditions of maritime life. Rich in mood and technical sophistication, Night Fishermen exemplifies Andújar's distinctive contribution to Caribbean art and offers collectors an exceptional example of his atmospheric seascapes and figurative compositions. Provenance: Private Collection, New York. This artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and will ship from New York.

Juan Plutarco Andujar was a master modern painter born in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, in 1931.
