Born in downtown Port-au-Prince, he trained in the woodcarving tradition of the Grand Rue neighborhood and became a founding member of the artists' collective Atis Rezistans and a leading figure among the Sculptors of Grand Rue. His studio there served as a workshop, gallery, and museum. His contemporary sculpture draws on Vodou, mortality, sexuality, and Haiti's social and economic struggles. In 2006 he contributed to a large collective sculpture now permanently exhibited at the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool. His work has been shown at the Museum of Ethnography in Geneva, the Fowler Museum at UCLA, Nottingham Contemporary, and the Grand Palais in Paris, and was included in the Haitian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale.
