About this artist

Self-taught Haitian master painter Andre Pierre was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1914 and passed away in 2005. He is considered as one of Haiti's greatest artists and as the pre-eminent painter of the Haitian spirits, the worthy successor of noted Hector Hyppolite. His artworks have been reproduced in many books on naive and religious art. He injects rhythms into his works through lines and colors says Gerald Alexis in his book Peintres Haitiens.
