Description

This elegant vertical composition by Levoy Exil, a founding member of the Saint-Soleil movement, exemplifies the artist’s signature fusion of symbolism and rhythm. Untitled (2008) presents a cascade of interwoven faces and abstracted forms rendered in shades of green, violet, and blue, unified by flowing contours and radiant balance. The repetition of eyes throughout the piece evokes themes of vision, spirituality, and interconnectedness—central to Exil’s exploration of Vodou cosmology and universal consciousness. Levoy Exil is celebrated as one of Haiti’s most important contemporary painters. His work, characterized by harmonious color palettes and mystical symbolism, bridges the material and spiritual worlds. A key figure in Saint-Soleil, his art has been exhibited internationally and is included in major collections of Haitian modernism.
