Sisson Blanchard, the late renowned contemporary Haitian primitive painter, created this beautiful and original 30"x18" oil on board painting featuring a vibrant still life of fruits. The artwork is in good condition and will be sold unframed. It comes from a private collection in New Rochelle, NY, from where the painting will be shipped. Our gallery will provide a certificate of authenticity upon purchase.

Sisson Blanchard was born in Trouin, Haiti, in 1926 and died in 1988. In 1949, once a yard boy at the Centre d'Art, he was encouraged to paint the American sculptor Jason Seley. His works are characterized by a naive boldness, using bright primary colors to depict birds and still life. His work is included in the Davenport Museum of Art collections and the Waterloo Museum of Art in Iowa. Sisson is considered an older Haitian artist before the '70s.
