A crowded open-air market comes alive in thick, sculptural strokes of oil paint. Vendors in white and pastel dress sit beside woven baskets brimming with produce, market stalls line a sun-dappled path, and shade trees rise against a bright sky. Ernst Louizor's palette-knife technique gives the scene an almost sculptural texture, capturing the energy and rhythm of daily Haitian life. Offered from the Myriam F. Nader Private Collection with a Certificate of Authenticity. Signed lower left.
