Carl Craig (Haitian, b.1951)

"My passion lies in the challenge of capturing the beauty and fragility of human expression," says Carl Craig, a self-taught Haitian American artist known for his emotionally resonant paintings and photography. Born in Haiti in 1951, Craig moved to New York at age 15 and later served in the U.S. Air Force for more than five years. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from Florida International University, followed by a 16-year career in financial markets and international consulting. In pursuit of a deeper creative calling, Craig left the corporate world to devote himself fully to painting, photography, and music. Since 2008, his work has been exhibited in local and international markets, earning recognition as a semi-finalist in Bombay Sapphire's Artisan Series (2015 and 2016). His paintings have been shown in Mexico City by invitation of the Haitian Ambassador and in Cayenne, French Guiana, by invitation of the General Consulate.
