Laurent Casimir was born on May 5, 1928, in Anse-à-Veau, Haiti, and died in 1990. He moved to Port-au-Prince in the late 1940s and joined the Centre d’Art in 1947 through Dieudonné Cédor. He later studied at the Foyer des Arts Plastiques from 1950 to 1956. Casimir is recognized as a key pioneer of the Haitian market scene.
