Description

Harbor Scene by Eric Girault is a vibrant oil on canvas depicting sailboats gathered on calm coastal waters, a subject that reflects the artist's enduring fascination with Haiti's maritime heritage. Animated by towering sails and subtle human activity, the composition captures both the vitality and tranquility of life along the Caribbean coast. Known for his expressive palette-knife technique and richly textured surfaces, Girault creates a luminous interplay of light, water, and atmosphere. The reflections across the harbor and the sculptural treatment of the boats reveal the artist's distinctive ability to transform everyday coastal scenes into compelling works of visual poetry. A striking example of contemporary Haitian marine painting, Harbor Scene showcases Girault's mastery of texture, movement, and composition while celebrating the enduring relationship between Haiti and the sea.
