Description

This oil on board by Gesner Armand captures two vessels adrift on a shimmering expanse of turquoise and jade water, a small red rowboat in the foreground and a larger sailboat carrying two fishermen beyond it. Armand builds the sea itself from thick, textured strokes of green, teal, and touches of lavender, giving the water a restless, sun-flecked movement that anchors the entire composition. The angled framing, with both boats cutting diagonally across the panel, lends the scene a sense of motion and daily rhythm along the Haitian coast. The painting comes from a private collector in Washington State, where it will ship from. Signed by the artist in the lower right. Condition is good, consistent with its age. A certificate of authenticity will be issued.
