Description
Description
This beautiful 12 x 16 inch monochrome painting by the late Haitian master Yves Michaud depicts an exterior food distribution scene, capturing everyday Haitian life with sensitivity, restraint, and narrative clarity. Rendered in a limited tonal palette, the work emphasizes gesture, posture, and human interaction—hallmarks of Michaud’s celebrated ability to elevate ordinary moments into quietly moving, timeless scenes. The painting is signed by the artist, is in good condition, and is sold unframed. This artwork comes from a private collection in Virginia, USA, and will be shipped directly from that collection. A Certificate of Authenticity will be issued by Myriam Nader Haitian Art Gallery upon purchase.
About this artist
About this artist
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on January 27, 1950, Yves Michaud began painting in 1969 under the guidance of master Nehemy Jean and later developed close ties with the Haitian impressionist Carlo Jean-Jacques. Known for intimate portrayals of daily life and remarkable attention to expression and body language, Michaud’s works are increasingly sought after. Around 2000, he adopted a notably different approach and painted under the name Georges Desarmes, contributing to the growing scarcity of works signed Yves Michaud on the market.
