Decourcelle Gourgue was born on August 24, 1927, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. After school at St. Louis de Gonzague, he studied painting under his gifted brother, J.E. Gourgue and, later Raymond D. Joseph and P. Beauvoir. He began painting in 1957 and has been exhibited in Haiti and in the U.S. in 1961. (Haiti Voodoo Kingdom to Modern Riviera by John Allen Franciscus)
