Gesner Abelard, the late famous Haitian master painter, created this vintage 24"40" original oil painting on masonite of birds on trees and a nest. This painting was carefully chosen by the art critic Gerald Alexis for the Collection of the Marie & Georges S. Nader Foundation and is now for sale at Myriam Nader Haitian Art Gallery in New York. Our gallery will provide a certificate of authenticity upon purchase.

About this artist

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on February 22, 1922, Gesner Abelard was a Haitian painter and sculptor. Abelard began life as a mechanic, then studied painting and sculpture at the Industrial School of Port-au-Prince under the painter Humberman Charles. He became a member of the Haitian Centre d'Art in 1948. In 1949, he received a bronze medal at the International Exposition celebrating the bicentennial of Port-au-Prince. His favorite subjects are birds, trees, religious scenes, and scenes of Haitian life in a naive/primitive style. Abelard is believed to be deceased. His art is mentioned in major Haitian art books.
