Description
Description
A young boy in a red cap pauses behind a massive, richly textured tree trunk, his red bicycle leaning against the bark beside a second bicycle just visible at right. Delicate flowers hang from an upper branch. Painted with loose, impressionistic brushwork and warm, dappled light, "Red Bicycle" reflects Gesner Armand's deep affection for everyday Haitian country life. A Centre d'Art master who studied in Mexico and Paris, Armand is remembered for luminous countryside scenes rendered with quiet intimacy. This original comes from the Myriam F. Nader Private Collection with a Certificate of Authenticity. Signed "Gesner Armand" lower left.
