Self-taught Haitian artist Jean Adrien Seide was born in Cayes in 1952. He moved to Venezuela when his father passed away. He paints exceptionally structured landscapes, with fields spreading towards a distant horizon. At first glance, his paintings look representational, but a more detailed examination leads to a fascination, and the fantastic element predominates over the immediate reality.
