Julio Jean was born on October 5, 1954, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He attended Herman Heroes and Cours Prive Schools in his fifth year. He began to paint in 1973 (Self-taught) in the style of the primitive school. (Haiti Voodoo Kingdom to Modern Riviera by John Allen Franciscus)
