His paintings often tell a story. His art is cited in some Haitian artbook namely "Haiti Voodoo Kingdom to Modern Riviera" by John Allen Franciscus & Peintres Haitiens by Gerald Alexis: "Respectful of the traditions of Le Cap, Gerbier depicts daily life in a vigorous idiom and remains true to life."
