Description
Description
This contemporary Haitian painting by Philippe Dodard, titled L’Arbre de Vie (Tree of Life), presents a vibrant and symbolic composition centered on themes of life, energy, and transformation. Painted in 2024, the work reflects Dodard’s distinctive approach to abstract figurative painting within modern Haitian art. A central figure emerges from a network of circular and spiral forms, surrounded by heart motifs and layered symbolic elements. The composition conveys a sense of interconnectedness and vitality, with rhythmic shapes guiding the viewer’s eye across the surface. Dodard’s textured application of acrylic enhances the depth and movement of the work. The palette of deep blues, reds, ochres, and metallic tones creates a striking visual contrast while reinforcing the painting’s expressive intensity. The combination of abstraction and symbolism is characteristic of Dodard’s work, which often explores identity, spirituality, and contemporary life through a highly personal visual language. Philippe Dodard is a leading figure in contemporary Haitian art, known for his innovative compositions that merge abstraction, symbolism, and figuration. His work is widely collected for its originality and strong visual impact within the global contemporary art market. This original acrylic on canvas is hand-signed and dated 2024 by the artist and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Myriam Nader Haitian Art Gallery.

His work has been exhibited internationally across Europe and the Americas and has influenced fashion and contemporary art, notably inspiring Donna Karan’s Spring 2012 collection. Today, Dodard’s work is highly sought after for its originality, design clarity, and cross-disciplinary appeal.
