Description
Description
The Haitian artist Raoul Viard signed this vibrant floral still life bursting with energy through the artist’s hallmark impasto technique and expressive brushwork. Thick layers of paint bring the blossoms to life, their red, white, yellow, and purple petals radiating against the rich blue vase. The warm background contrasts with cooler tones in the vessel, enhancing the luminosity and depth of the composition. Viard, best known for his atmospheric Haitian landscapes, here demonstrates his versatility by infusing a traditional subject with the same dynamism and emotional resonance found in his landscapes. The style reflects post-impressionist influences, emphasizing texture, color harmony, and movement over fine detail. The work is in good condition, from a private New York collection, offered unframed. A certificate of authenticity will accompany the painting upon sale.
