Eric Girault est né à Jérémie, dans la péninsule sud d'Haïti, le 4 décembre 1937. Girault est surnommé « La Vibration de la Vie ».
Il entre au Foyer Des Arts Plastiques en 1967. Deux ans plus tard, il découvre son style impressionniste. L'artiste Jean Renée Jérôme le présente au marchand d'art Georges Nader. C'est aujourd'hui le meilleur peintre impressionniste haïtien encore vivant. Parmi ses nombreux collectionneurs figurent M. Aristote Onassis, M. Nelson Rockefeller et M. Giscard d'Estaing (ancien président de la France), pour n'en nommer que quelques-uns.
