Description
Description
Market at the Port is an original Haitian oil painting by Micheline Prezeau that brings a lively waterfront market to life. Women in red, pink, and green dresses sit, stand, and trade among large yellow bowls, while one carries a bowl balanced on her head and another holds up a bright red fish. A child looks on, and a white sailboat and palm fronds frame a violet sea beneath a soft blue sky. The thick, textured paint and dark outlines give each figure a sculptural presence, and the saturated colors carry the energy of a busy market day.
The painting comes from a private collection in New Jersey. Its condition is good, consistent with its age, and a certificate of authenticity accompanies the work.
