Roseme Duncan (Haitian)

Duncan Roseme is a Haitian-born contemporary painter celebrated for vibrant narrative works that capture the culture, traditions, and everyday rhythms of Haitian life. Raised in New York City, Roseme works within the Haitian naive art tradition, favoring bold color, simplified form, and scenes drawn from village markets, coastal landscapes, musicians, and community celebrations. Roseme has exhibited his paintings throughout the United States and internationally, including shows in Japan and Germany. In 1993, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he spent four years exhibiting in galleries across the city and studied silkscreen and etching printmaking at the College of the Desert. While Roseme has not been as extensively documented in art historical records as many of Haiti's modern masters, his work has earned a loyal following among collectors who value his decorative appeal, expressive storytelling, and distinctive Caribbean aesthetic.
