コレクション: Roosevelt Sanon (Haitian, b. 1951)
Roosevelt Sanon (born 1951, Jacmel, Haiti) is a Haitian painter known for expressive, narrative scenes rooted in everyday Haitian life. He began painting at the age of 17 without formal training and later received artistic guidance from Raphael Surin and other established artists. Sanon comes from a family of painters; his siblings, Lamarre Sanon and Janette Sanon, are also recognized Haitian artists. At age 23, Sanon won the grand prize in an art competition sponsored by the German Embassy in Haiti and the Musée d’Art Haïtien, an achievement that led to further artistic development abroad. Following this award, he traveled to Germany, where he studied the work of European artists and expanded his visual vocabulary. Between 1979 and 1985, Sanon exhibited extensively in Haiti and internationally, with shows in France, Switzerland, and England. His paintings have entered both private and institutional collections, and selected works are displayed at the Haitian Embassy in Washington, DC. Today, Roosevelt Sanon is appreciated for his authentic style, strong narrative presence, and contribution to modern Haitian painting. Scroll Down to Mkae Your Selection (s)
