Eric Jn-Louis (Haitian-American,1957-2022)

Eric Jn-Louis (May 16, 1957–June 18, 2022) was a Haitian artist born in Jérémie. He began painting in 1975 under the guidance of Edgard Brierre, initially working in a “primitive” style marked by direct storytelling and simplified forms. Over time, his approach evolved toward a more modern visual language, reflecting both technical growth and a broadened contemporary sensibility.Jean-Louis received several awards in Haiti for his paintings and built an international exhibition history beginning in 1977.
