About this artist

Ernst Louizor was born in October 1938 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and he passed away on August 5th, 2011. Louizor has imparted a very personal style to his compositions and generally paints the marketplace, seascapes, or combinations. He is considered the leading impressionist painter of Haiti, if not the whole Caribbean. Louizor has formed many disciples, including his brothers and wife, Guerda.

He has exhibited in Haiti, Europe, Japan, and the USA, and his work is collected widely by private Haitian art lovers.

Thanks to Louizor, Impressionism was reborn in Haiti.” (Gérald Alexis, Peintres Haitiens).
