Description

This richly detailed oil on board painting by Gesner Abelard presents a vibrant depiction of Adam and Eve in a lush, Eden-like paradise filled with dense tropical foliage and exotic wildlife. Abelard’s imaginative rendering combines symbolic Biblical narrative with the distinctive palette and stylized forms of Haitian art. Giraffes, zebras, tropical birds, flowering plants, and layered palm fronds frame the serene central figures, creating a dreamlike environment that blends innocence, beauty, and cultural reinterpretation. The warm gradient sky and intricately textured vegetation reveal the artist’s mastery of color harmony and decorative composition. This work comes from a private collector in New York and will be shipped directly from the collector. A Certificate of Authenticity will be issued by Myriam Nader Haitian Art Gallery upon purchase.
