Description

This evocative marine scene by Dieudonné Cédor, one of Haiti’s most accomplished modernist painters, captures the energy and rhythm of everyday life at sea. Bold angular sails rise against a textured sky, their ochres, blues, and earth tones forming a dramatic interplay of shape and shadow. Figures aboard the vessels appear as integral parts of the composition, merging human activity with the dynamic geometry of the boats. Cédor’s expressive brushwork and layered impasto lend both depth and movement, making this painting a striking example of his mastery in depicting maritime life. The artwork is in good condition, sold unframed, and shipped from a private collector in New York. Our gallery will issue a certificate of authenticity upon purchase.
