Vendors in white and pastel dress sit beside woven baskets brimming with produce, market stalls line a sun-dappled path, and shade trees rise against a bright sky. Ernst Louizor's palette-knife technique gives the scene an almost sculptural texture, capturing the energy and rhythm of daily Haitian life. Offered from the Myriam F. Ernst Louizor was born in Port-au-Prince in 1938 and died on Aug , 2011. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, and thanks to him, Impressionism was reborn in Haiti. He has exhibited in Europe, the US, and Japan; his art is mentioned in all significant Haitian art books.
