Philome Obin, the late Haitian master and one of the oldest painters of Haiti, signed this original 19 1/2" x 26 1/2" painting "Philome Obin Cap-Haitien" in the frontal right corner, with the inscription "Mariage Paysan" in the frontal lower middle of the painting. This painting is in good condition, from a collector in Caracas, Venezuela, and shipped from there. Our art gallery will issue a certificate of authenticity upon purchase.

About this artist

Philome Obin was born in Limbe in 1891 and died in Cap Haitian in 1986. He was self-taught and one of the first Haitian artists to marvel at the world with his naive art. His art is referred to in all major books on Haitian art and mentioned by many art critics internationally.
